Back in 2021 our friends at Wiltshire Wood Recycling made Zero Chippenham this beautiful tree, as a way for us to connect with people of all ages and hear their thoughts on climate change and the environment.
Since then we have used the tree at different community events, from Christmas Fayres and Eco Fests, to Sheldon Road Church’s Earth Care day.
We ask people to decorate the tree with leaves, telling us what they see when they imagine a climate friendly Chippenham.
Through these contributions we grow our tree, and our understanding of what people in Chippenham hope for when they imagine a more climate friendly town. This is really useful way of listening to the people of Chippenham.
We wanted to share what we heard more widely, so you can hear from each other, and to have a way for the Council and other local organisations to be able to access what people see when they imagine a more climate friendly Chippenham.
So we have made an online version of the Zero Chippenham tree. You can help us grow the tree any time, just use the box below the tree to tell us what you see when you imagine a climate friendly Chippenham (and don’t forget to answer the anti-spam question too!).
Every two weeks or so we will update the tree with new contributions, so check back to see your ‘leaf’ appear.
And while you are there check out some of our other schemes too, like our free loan scheme for thermal cameras, which can help you work out where to target home insulation efforts, to save money on your bills. Or if you are considering solar panels, our volunteer led solar panel scheme has identified recommended, local installers for a no obligation quote.
If you would like us to bring the wooden tree to your organisation, school or community event and run the imagination exercise in person, please contact us to arrange an initial chat.
A climate friendly Chippenham is for everyone, and we look forward to hearing your ideas.
